North Africa: Water for desert families

In the desert climate of North Africa, water is precious. Thanks to your support of Water for Desert Family, featured in WorldShare’s 2009 Gift of Hope catalogue, our partners were able to help a new village situated on top of a mountain.

The old well had run dry, and the relentless heat of the sun warmed the water, making it barely tolerable to drink.

But our partners struggled to find a place to dig, due to the rough terrain. So they gathered the community to pray, asking God for a miracle.

The following day, our partners received a call from the village leader. They had found water! The well is now finished, and is full of fresh, clean water. A new lid protects it from contamination and heat.

At the celebration, the village leader thanked the team, saying “Your God is with us and answered our prayers.”
