Website Mega-Gift 1: Clean Water for African Village

According to the World Health Organisation, 80% of disease in the developing world - including diarrhoea which most often affects young children - is related to poor water and sanitation.

In the wake of Liberia's savage civil war, our local partners serve communities with that most basic of human needs - clean, safe water - by digging new wells for villages.

Your gift of a well will serve a whole community of potentially several thousand people. Our local partners dig UN-recommended wells, with removable covers that make them very easy to maintain, and which typically last for more than 20 years.

Your mega-gift will make a huge difference - and we can prove it! From Bargblor to Zleh, tens of thousands of people in 23 communities are already enjoying better family health because they now have access to clean water. There are already reports of a decrease in cases of debilitating diarrhoea among villagers.

Ministry director Bishop Klibo reports that a worker used a new well to explain how Jesus is the Living Water. People listened - and at the end, asked them to come back and start a church in their village.

This is an example of the interweaving of humanitarian and evangelistic programmes, as our partners in Liberia strive to serve the whole person in Jesus' name.
