We are now working with the church in the coastal Latakia, which our partners helped to build some years ago. Latakia is still relatively peaceful, but the church is providing help and comfort to over 100 families of refugees who have fled the destruction of their homes and the loss of loved ones. The numbers of refugee families are growing daily.
These refugees are hurt, frightened and desperate. Some are Christian, but the majority are Muslim, and are coming into direct contact with a Christian charity for the very first time. This is a key moment to show them the compassion of Christ.
We urgently need to raise funds for this relief effort. Just £55 will provide food for a family for a whole week. A further £30 will provide them with basic medical care and some shelter. Please help if you can.
Now the fighting is threatening to engulf Lebanon too.

UPDATE February 2013
The conflict in Syria continues to escalate with no sign of peace in the near future.
Our ministry partner continues to work in the cities of Aleppo, Homs and Latakia as well as in a number of surrounding towns. Their relief works consists of distributing food, clothes and fuel for families to keep warm during winter.
They also run weekly support group meetings and church programmes for refugees and internally displaced persons. Their ministry has been effective in helping during this time of violence.
There are 15 new believers through this ministry who have been thankful to experience God's peace and provision.
