JKPS - being the change

Baishaki's life was not too different from that of many other young women in northern India. Her father worked as a labourer in a small factory manufacturing optical lenses.

Yet also like many other young women, Baishaki's own life opportunities were somewhat limited, until -thanks to WorldShare's ChildAid sponsorship programme - she was able to go on to complete her Bachelor’s degree. She has since found a job.

Baishaki, together with a few of our ChildAid graduates, have now informed us that they will be sponsoring four children themselves! Her whole family has also found Jesus as Saviour - and now, her neighbours have also started coming to church.

The local ministry administering this ChildAid scheme - and the driving force enabling Baishaki and so many others to 'be the change' - is WorldShare's long-term partner, JKPS, which operates in West Bengal and five other states of North India.

In a thrilling new Ministry Impact Report*, JKPS also describes one of many vitally-needed facets of ministry in this region.

The Mahima Movement
"When God called the family of JKPS to respond to the need of establishing a licensed Christian after-care home for minor girls who are victims of extreme trauma (most of whom are victims of trafficking), we were unsure of what the future held.

"We launched out with fear and trembling, knowing that this was a great need and that we could only accomplish this with the Master's strength.

"Today we look back with gratitude to the Lord for the license He has granted us to be able to run a home for 25 victims of trauma.

"What is even more humbling is that our home has more than 20 young ladies who are being brought holistic healing through the power of Calvary's love."
