Over 90% of the responders are Muslim and most are under 40. Most are asking to know more about Christ.
Most responders are men. It is much more difficult for women to make contact in Turkish society. But our new range of programmes for women, made by Vizyonkumru and funded by WorldShare, is making a difference.
Undoubtedly there are very many people who view the programmes but areunwilling or unable to respond. No previous outreach in Turkey has reached so many people.
In 2010, many people found Christ through Kanal Hayat’s broadcasts, and joined local churches – a courageous step for Turks. At least one new church was founded through Kanal Hayat’s work.
But here’s a different figure, no less important: in 2011, WorldShare needs to raise £50,000 to pay our share of the rental for the satellite channel to show these programmes.
Without that funding the channel will stop broadcasting.
This is a priority challenge for 2011. We must not allow Kanal Hayat’s good work to cease. Your help will be very welcome. To find out more, and make a donation, please click here now.
NEW April 27th, 2011 was another milestone day for Kanal Hayat, as the first-ever Christian TV show in Turkey to be aired live (rather than pre-recorded) was broadcast. Guests were able to watch presenter Isik Abla and a variety of studio guests, and call in with live questions. The programme was aired on Kanal Hayat and on another satellite channel which has mainly Farsi programmes.
