The majority of Turks have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many don’t understand what Christians believe. Many don’t understand how it is possible to be a Christian and still a Turk.

The Church in Turkey is growing fast. But there are many constraints imposed by the government and by local communities. Occasionally there is open persecution. Evangelism is very difficult. How can we help Turks to hear abut Jesus?

Turks are fascinated by television, and watch many hours each day. Satellite television has vastly increased the number of channels and is hugely popular.

Kanal Hayat is the only 24-hour Christian TV channel in Turkey. Broadcasting since its launch by Eurasian Christian Television in 2007, Kanal Hayat has programmes for all ages and of all kinds. People are responding to the broadcasts. Many people have become Christians and joined the local churches. At least one new church has been founded entirely by people who have come to Christ through our programmes.

Clearly, Kanal Hayat is the most effective way of reaching Turks today.

Kanal Hayat also broadcasts in Azeri and Turkmen – both languages related to Turkish. Response is very good. In Turkmen, these are believed to be the only TV programmes on air outside the control of the oppressive government.

This is an amazing ministry, reaching people effectively over a vast area.

Our biggest challenge is renting the satellite channel. WorldShare’s share of this cost is £50,000. Your gift of any size will help to keep these programmes on the air.
