Since the 1980’s, MICOS has been caring for the educational and spiritual needs of children and their families in poor slum areas in the Philippines.
The children receive education and there are special programmes for mothers and for fathers, which give them time for sharing, and to learn new skills in looking after their families and earning a living.
Many of the children are malnourished. Many families simply can’t afford to feed their large families, and in some cases addiction to alcohol or drugs takes up the family income and so the children go hungry.
The meal they receive at the education project may be their only food for the day.
Quite a few of the children need special help and so the programme provides milk, to give them an extra boost of calcium and protein.
This milk is guaranteed to give children a better chance of good health, and the ability to attend to their vital lessons.
The milk is expensive. All our partners’ costs have risen because of the global downturn, and they need more help to continue this vital ministry.
Yet just £40 will provide 10 children with milk for a month. Your help will be appreciated with smiles!
