Though Christians have been persecuted for years in Orissa State, the brutality of the Christmas 2007 attacks were largely unexpected. The violence forced thousands of Christians to flee for their lives into the jungles.
Dozens of churches and homes were burned to the ground. In the months following the attacks, families had to live in makeshift shelters or relief camps without basic necessities.
A number of leaders trained by Joshua Vision India are from Orissa and have worked in the area for years. They have been providing basic necessities and development opportunities to Christian families, helping them to re-establish their lives and livelihoods.
As the need is still great, WorldShare would like to continue to support JVI's relief and development work in Orissa for the coming year.
Your gifts towards this project will provide support for three workers in Orissa, relief for 200+ families, and educational assistance for 45 students.
