With slums expanding rapidly on the outskirts of New Delhi and other North Indian cities, Cooperative Outreach of India (COI) has a heart to serve the needs of families living in the slums through community development programs.
Slum children are often silent victims of malnutrition and suffer needlessly from easily preventable health problems. Through this project, COI provides nutritional support and monitors the health of 400 children in urban slums.
Training is also given to the mothers of these children on how keep their child free of malnutrition and illness. The health details of each child are kept on record so that their progress over time can be evaluated.
This project gives a long-term platform for Christian workers to be "salt and light" in a community. Pastoral teams are attached to these communities, integrating these outreaches into a broader church-planting strategy.
