Dear reader,
Kanal Hayat is reaching thousands of families in Turkey and neighbouring countries. Our partner's satellite Christian TV channel covers the region with the message of Jesus Christ. Many people find the programmes by ‘accident’ and very quickly become regular viewers.
Most of the viewers are Muslims, like 96% of Turkey’s population. Many have never heard the real message of Good News in Jesus Christ before. Others have only heard of Christianity in a derogatory way. Many people believe that becoming a Christian is to be disloyal to Turkish nationality and culture. Now, as they view the programmes, their ideas begin to change.
Turkey is a country with decisions to make. Will they continue to seek closer links with Europe or, as their government wants, get closer again to the Muslim World? Although most Turks are Muslims, they greatly fear being associated with countries which support radical Islamic terrorists. Many Turks are looking for something different.
In 2010, over 200,000 people responded to Kanal Hayat’s broadcasts. This is an astounding figure. Never before has any Christian activity touched so many Turkish hearts.
Most of the responders are young Muslim men, but we know that many other people, of all ages; women as well as men, also watch.
Many of the responses start a conversation which leads to a commitment to Christ, and the viewer joining a local church. Our committed follow-up team is kept VERY busy.
Many of the responders want to know more about Jesus Christ and Christianity. Many want to read the Christian Scriptures. We want to be able to send them a New Testament, but to continue to do so we need help from our supporters.
We urgently need to purchase a large new supply of Turkish New Testaments. We can buy them very cheaply, but we are using a great many, and the demand is growing. Never before have so many Turks been reading the Word of God.
Please will you help us buy more New Testaments for our follow-up team? £20 will enable us to buy 15 New Testaments and send them to enquirers. £100 will send 75. £1000 will send an amazing 750. We would like to provide 20,000 as soon as possible.
