Wakisa Ministries

Wakisa Ministries was born out of a vision to bring help to young women with unwanted pregnancies in Kampala, Uganda.

It is a caring ministry that offers counselling to young girls (aged 13-19) with unwanted pregnancies.

These girls have been rejected and abandoned by their families. They are offered temporary shelter, excellent ante-natal care and are trained in vocational skills.

Wakisa's objective is to reconcile and reintegrate the teenage mothers in their families and their schools. The name 'Wakisa' literally means “God is merciful” - and so the ministry was set up to be a vehicle of the love, compassion and mercy of the Lord to these vulnerable young women.

Wakisa Ministries has grown to embrace other young people traumatised by wars and strife in Uganda and the Great Lakes Region.
