Church Growth Association of India

Church Growth Association of India (CGAI) was established in 1978 to research church growth in India.

The ministry began to define the task of evangelism in India through study and research into unreached people groups, and publication of their findings.

Eventually, CGAI became a frontline training centre for evangelism among dozens of unreached people groups.

Today, under the leadership of Vasantharaj Albert, the core vision of CGAI is to transform communities through committed leadership.

CGAI’s main geographical focus is the southern provinces of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The Harvest Training Seminars equip many church planters (over 1,000 per year in some recent years), field workers and mission leaders to reach specific people groups with the gospel.

CGAI has a thriving ministry to women

CGAI’s Ministry to Women brings together women from various religions and levels of society into self-help groups. These enable even the poorest to learn how to save money, make crafts for sale, build friendships, and in the process find value as a person.

Around 40 women’s self-help groups have over 800 members in Chennai, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. Some of the women come to know Jesus as they learn about and experience God’s love for them.

When the 2004 tsunami brought disaster to this coastal region of south India, CGAI responded with vital spiritual and practical aid.
